villainess yuri.
Hi okay. This is a really silly, self-indulgent one, but it’s my blog who gaf.
So, I guess context. This is kind of in the same fantasy old-timey royalty world manwhas tend to be set in. But in a Duchy in the North, of course. And they’re not white. Yes.
There’s four main players here. Villainess, girl, villain, and mom. Respectively, they are Adrienne, Eliza, Ambrose, and Anastasia. Triple A have long, five-name full names, last name Astielo, but Eliza is just Eliza Brown. A baron's daughter.
Adrienne is a villainess because she is villain by her own right, but also because she is the daughter of a villain.
This all starts off with Eliza, who has what is possibly the biggest and most shameless crush alive on Ambrose. She’s from the central region, which makes it all the more impressive that she came all the way to the North for this.
Like she is down actively disgustingly bad. Some wonder why she has not been killed for it already (reason: she's a bit younger than his daughter's age and he won't kill a kid). It turns into villainess yuri because Ambrose nudges her off as a playmate for Adrienne (they are teenagers mind you) and Eliza goes "Oh. (Excited, allured) oh, you're just like him that's wonderful!"
Adrienne, for reference, is just like her dad (looks just like him, is extremely talented, rich, strong, headstrong, intelligent, and stunning. And has a rancid personality).
Anastasia isn't dead, just of weak constitution, and the only person Adrienne and Ambrose are always kind to.
Adrienne inherited Ambrose's awful personality and stunning looks, but the real reason Ambrose dotes on her is because the Duchess wasn't expected to survive childbirth as she was always weak and frail, but she really wanted a baby. And, as is the pattern, what she wants, she gets, so she had Adrienne.
However, throughout the pregnancy, something miraculous happened. Asya got stronger and stronger and when Adrienne was born, Asya was the healthiest she had ever been. Adrienne, though, was very sick for her first five years, so it's hypothesized that villainess is the reason Asya is still alive and active. So Ambrose dotes on villainess for not only being born but for helping his wife.
Self-absorbed as he seems, he hoped the baby would be born looking like Asya, and felt no way or the other when she looked like him instead. He knows he is beautiful, but his wife is who he loves. He does love her, very much. Very very much.
She fell in love with him terrible personality and all, she thinks he's perfect the way he is ❤️. Sick as she was as a girl in the central region, the tales of his monstrousness and strong personality thrilled and dazzled her, made her crave him.
Asya's good for him, though. The Duchy staff are so glad she's their madam. They can breathe. Like yeah the pay was always good (nobody pays as well as he does, or gives such good bonuses. It breeds loyalty) and they were never hurt on the job but he is a lot less scary when they’ve seen him lose sleep for a week over the best anniversary present, that always has to top last year's.
Eliza has a crush on Ambrose and thinks he's wonderful but like. She likes Asya as a person and admires her endlessly. So Asya doesn't much have issue with girl having a crush on her husband because she also has a crush on her husband.
Adrienne's talented in everything minus having a good personality, and Eliza is not exactly talented in anything except being likable. They complement each other.
Asya is fond of Eliza and her stalkerish ways because despite Asya being sickly and frail as hell as a kid and teen, she still stalked her way into a husband. So she fully believes Eliza can stalk her way into a wife.
Ambrose is the Duke of the (autonomous) North naturally and he was very worried about Asya moving to the North because the capital which is far warmer and she was still sick There, so he was fully prepared to be miserable and not marry the love of his life if it meant she'd not have to come to the cold North. But then she threatened to not take any of her medicine and waste away in the capital if he refused to marry her and he folded like within minutes. Then put mages to WORK with temperature adjusting mana stones and artifacts. All this to say Asya is, despite her wonderful personality, the far more underhanded of the two, whereas Ambrose is more direct and honest. Adrienne is like her dad, while Eliza is more prone to being underhanded. Asya sees so much of her past self in this little stalker weirdo ❤️❤️ she’s never particularly yearned for a kid who was like her, because she loves her daughter who is like her husband, but she sees the appeal whenever she sees Eliza.
Anastasia, like Eliza, is helpless at the sword and unwilling to improve, but likes cheering her beloved on with occasionally explicit verbiage. She's happy to finally have someone to share her hobby. Every Northern girl knows the sword which she thinks is smart and admirable. However. She is not a Northern girl. So that leaves her bored more often than not, til Eliza.
Asya is open-minded and bouncy, but Ambrose personally does not care if someone is queer. Doesn’t occur to him to be something to be worried/angry about. Like Oh no this girl was born differently. Boo. What do you want him to do with that information. Stop wasting his time.
Both him and Asya can just kind of tell both their daughter and this strange girl are into just girls, so nudging them together is fun for them. Adrienne complains endlessly: Eliza is clingy, Eliza is dull, Eliza is clumsy, Eliza dresses poorly, Eliza is weak, Eliza is silly. But she, noticeably, doesn’t say I want Eliza to leave.
